MateMatch
MateMatch is a program to connect participants with similar interests together. With the support of our community mentors participants will build positive friendships, develop social skills, explore their local area and participate in activities they both enjoy.
How Does MateMatch Work?
The MateMatch program matches Platform To participants who share similar hobbies, interests or goals together. Our support workers are an integral part of the success of the program. They play a number of roles; support social anxiety, communication assistance, organise activities, and develop skills.
Decide together with your support worker whether you want to work on a shared skill development goal, improve your health and wellbeing with fitness activities, or hang out and have fun. The possibilities of activities are endless; meet up for a coffee, yoga on the beach, swimming, watching a footy game, or a Friday night out.

Why Was MateMatch Started?
When we started Platform To we thought, “Wouldn’t it be great if there was an easy and safe way to connect Coasties who shared similar interests?” This was a regular theme we noticed across the people we were supporting. And so, MateMatch was born!
Meeting people and making new friends is difficult. Finding your tribe can be really challenging for many people. Friends play important roles in our lives. They can make us laugh, lift our spirits, give us advice and share experiences. Friendships help build confidence, resilience and improve overall wellbeing. Especially now with COVID, we need to combat social isolation and increase emotional support.
Whatever your passion and goals, we’ll try and find someone you’ll be able to connect with.
MateMatch Success Story...
Created a new, genuine connection
This story reflects why we think MateMatch is important, and the value it can bring to our participants. We support two young women, who have the same NDIS goal – to build a friendship. We were excited to connect the two, and support them to build the new local connection they have today. They came to us looking to meet new people and participate in the local community. Our team provides direct services support, specifically aimed at managing social anxieties and communication. The women are now connecting regularly, once a fortnight to hangout and have fun.
